Bell launching Samsung Link on July 15

QWERTY aficionados will have something new to look forward as the latest buzz on the interwebz indicates that Bell will be releasing the new Samsung Link smartphone on July 15th.
Details are pretty scarce at the moment as to the exact specs of this new phone, but it does come with a full QWERTY keypad onboard. The picture to the right, unfortunately, is the best image available of the device, and we’ll surely accept any help in this department if you can manage to send in a clearer shot of the Samsung Link. Will the Link follow in the footsteps of the versatile Samsung Jack or the more humble Samsung VICE? We’re keeping our fingers crossed and definitely hoping it’s more of the former than the latter, but no one exactly knows for sure right now. Likewise, we’re praying to the high heavens that the July 15th release date is […]

HTC Hero gets FCC approval, Bundled with 850/1900MHz (AT&T) 3G bands

The HTC Hero has just passed by the office of the FCC and got approved for distribution in the US market.

While there was no specific release date given for the North American when it was announced last month, thanks to the FCC, we now have an idea as to which carrier might possibly offer it in the region. Approved with 850/1900MHz 3G bands, AT&T is now the leading candidate to carry the HTC Hero in the US, and Rogers/Fido in Canada. Of course, this isn’t official yet, but it’s worth noting based on what we currently know about the HTC Hero so far. It’s also being rumored to be headed for Sprint as well, but there’s nothing available confirm this report just yet.

That’s about it for now, but nevertheless, we are hoping to get more info on the HTC Hero NAM within the next couple of months since it’s already […]

LG eyeing no. 2 spot; “Black Label” iPhone-rival, Prada III, New Luxury brand in the works

LG’s rise in the standings is already quite a remarkable feat, but as most companies in the industry will agree, there’s still nothing sweeter than reaching the top spot. As such is the case, it comes as no surprise that Ahn Seung-kwon, president for LG’s mobile business, has expressed their intentions of snatching the #2 spot from Samsung by 2012 in their bid to inch closer to Nokia at the top.

That’s really a bold statement to make, but not completely unfounded considering their stellar performance in Q1, and brisk sales of the LG Cookie, and QWERTY handsets in 2008. Apart from that, he also disclosed in the same interview with Yonhap News Agency some of their plans for the remainder of this year and down the road leading to 2012. In Q4, they will be launching a new “Black Label” series which will take the iPhone head-on. They’re also […]
